I’ve been sitting here staring at this screen for the last 1/2 hour, with this strong desire to write something – just, not blawdy sure about what. Plenty of fodder I just have no particular direction. I can’t just write about nothing. Like a Seinfeld episode.
I really didn’t care for Seinfeld, actually. Sorry if I have disappointed anyone … oh watch, now they’ll be a rash of unfollows. Oh well. I’m not a real fan of Reality TV either, if I’m being honest. The first couple of them came out in that late 1999–2005 gap when I didn’t watch TV at all. I still don’t watch TV really. I find the vast majority of TV boring, quite frankly. So I guess I don’t like really ANY shows, I guess Seinfeld stands out for some reason. People will go “remember the Seinfeld episode”….I’m like nope. Can’t say as I do.
When I watch TV, I watch Big Bang Theory and Murdock Mysteries, which is a historical mystery show set in Toronto. The lead detective is smart AND he’s adorable. Even so, really not in the mood even for those last few months. Watching historical documentaries, archaeological shows, like Time Team, on YouTube. Strangely…I can manage to make it through What Not To Wear occasionally. No idea why.
Fashion up here in boony-ville is somewhat non-existent. And god forbid, don’t wear any colour unless you want to stand out. Sometimes you don’t even have to get dressed. I always make a bit of an effort though. Much as it would be nice every now and again to venture on into town with my jammies on, I just can’t. Oh yeah, seriously. Walking round getting groceries in PJ bottoms, winter boots and a big winter coat – that is often the uniform of our locals here. I also suspect quite a few individuals haven’t heard of the Canada Food Guide…”pyramid folks as in small amount of bad stuff, lots of the good stuff”. I think maybe some of the ladies took it to mean a guide as to the desired physique.
As you can imagine, I don’t really have alot in common with the locals. I mean….if I watch TV at all it’s news and Murdoch Mysteries, and then the occasional historical and archaeological documentary. Oh, what a riot I am at a party, let me tell you. If you really get me drunk I may just spill my guts and tell you everything I know about the Dead Sea Scrolls. LOL. I love them, I even have a favourite author, Norman Golb –
is the Ludwig Rosenberger Professor in Jewish History and Civilization at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago.
Yes. This is what I do in my spare time. OH, and genealogy. What do the folks in Grey County do? Well, I’ve come to hear that ALOT of them like to shoot guns off. Certain time of the year you really don’t want to be traipsing around the woods with camouflage hiking gear. However, dang namit…what do ya mean by “season” … it’s always in season to shoot guns off…I guess. Although the guns of Grey have been rather quieter since the snowmobilers showed up with the snow. Surprisingly I guess the locals don’t want to get charged with involuntary man-slaughter.
Well, look at that 557 words … about nothing.
Ye’all come back na, ya hear ?!!
I hated Seinfeld..you are not alone.
