Into the lens of the camera I go when I have need of escape. Through my camera I can escape the realities of the day, week, month, year and just languish in the act of creativity. Gardening is a close second, but the winter months leave us gardeners edgy. However, with my camera I can appreciate the subtle beauty of winter.
What leaves are left on the trees are yellowed and dead. Through the lens of my camera I can breath new life into them. With my camera I can capture maybe just a “shimmer” of the beauty, the moments or the sacred. I can take those moments and save them for those rainy, dismal days when we sometimes forget there remains beauty in the world. It feeds my soul.
With my camera I can capture moments and hold them. My photographs can remind me how beautiful my Mom was, and how much she is missed. In the oasis of photography I can share. I can gift my vision to others. It than becomes like an offering of sorts. Through a photo a Granddaughter can learn what her Grandmother looked like.
The camera makes you forget you’re there. It’s not like you are hiding but you forget, you are just looking so much. Annie Leibovitz
With the lens of my camera I am free. My vision and how I choose to express that is unique to me. My life experience, my soul, so many aspects converge and through the lens I gain perspective. It is a great ONENESS that has enchanted me from the first day I picked up a camera; it was a revelation. I could disappear behind the camera and stand back and not merely observe, but CAPTURE.
You take beautiful pictures, so it is a wonderful oasis… ;-)

This was beautiful. I’ve always wanted to take beautiful photographs to bless me and others, but alas! I always manage to capture my thumb or some other finger, and almost every picture I take is blurry. It truly is a gift, and I really enjoy looking at pictures, but I realize that actually taking the pictures (even simple family ones) is better left to someone else. :) Thank you for sharing your oasis.
Love,
Cheryl
