Benedict Could Eat Crackers In My Bed

I believe, maybe, I am in need of a re-entrance to the world of my peers; at least a smidge. You know, I probably know about as much about modern series , new movies, and music as you. That’s awful.

I guess I feel like an odd-ball, not many of me out there, you know.

I’m completely out of touch. C O M P L E T E L Y.

Not good. How can I even HOPE to engage in small-talk (which you know I suck at), if I don’t at least somewhat dabble in what others enjoy, now and again, eh?

So my foray into Netflix has begun. Upt my internet $10 and went unlimited. That means I can watch a bunch of popular shows, whenever I want. Just a monthly fee. Streaming media its called.

So, I watched the first two episodes of this comedy starring Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, called Grace and Frankie. Loved. I actually laughed, and that takes alot. This is good. I like laughing. WOW.

It’s about two 70-something women who are dumped by their respective husbands. Who, btw, are gay and have had an affair with each other for the last 20 years.

Thought you’d like that. I can’t even tell you who plays their husbands, I swear you’ll pee your pants laughing. No. I’m not. You’ll just have to watch it. I have no idea how. Maybe look over my shoulder. Heck, you probably already have been.

Next I found the new Sherlock. And Benedict Cumberbatch, well, wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crackers. He’s a splendid actor, and does a wonderful Holmes. He truly captures the darker nature of Holmes. That psychotic bent that lay at the root of his character. I love his observation of the world, within the confined lens of his keen eyes. And Mr. Cumberbatch has rather beautifully intense eyes. He actually almost looks a wee bit fey you know.

Mirrors of your soul, they say, eh? And I love an actor who can use their eyes, and just the eyes, in a scene. And you know how I’m a sucker for a wounded soul, and this character is fascinating, and mysterious. I do love a mystery.

A good beginning, I say. I do believe I may be spending a good chunk of my day off ensconced in a Sherlock marathon.

This seclusion, this weird disinterest in popular media, Mom, I wonder where it comes from? Maybe I really took to heart those who, like Grandma and Mrs. Vincent, really worried about our over consumption of fast-food entertainment.

This fixation on fame, and fortune, stuns me sometimes. Even those who think the rich are the be-all-and-end-all, and can fix all the ills of the world, astound me.

Brainwashed minions, all.

So, yeah, the TV thang , you know I do LOVE a good story. Love to be wrapped up in a drama that engages, and doesn’t assume their viewers are of the lowest common denominator.

Well, love your erudite daughter, had to share.
