The Boy Under The Bed – Februrary 1940

The following is from the first of GrandmaN’s journals. This incident was something we had been told about years ago. It was a defining moment in her life and it changed her forever. The night was cold and rainy and the wind was blowing. We went to bed sort of early that night. It was in February of 1940. I was in the eleventh grade … Continue reading The Boy Under The Bed – Februrary 1940

She Walked in Beauty

I would like to introduce you to my Carolina Grandma – my Dad’s Mom. I briefly mentioned her in my intro post for my Old Journals. Is it weird to have a favourite leaf? Well, this heart shaped one on Fred the Ficus is mine. ♥️ Oldest leaf on Alocasia Stingray, from last summer outside in my wee woodland. Tgis thing has not stopped... all winter. They all did well this winter. I tell ya, its the rainwater... they are pampered. #myplantbabies Oxalis Regnelli - called #falseshamrock - a type of woodsorrel * native to southern climes of south america * gets red wine undersides in brighter light ** little morning or afternoon light ideal *** place on higher shelf, so you can admire its profile. #pinksyngonium light needs is a bit of an experiment. Too much light can trigger more green, but too little and can lose the pink. Each variety is a bit different. Welcome to my wee jungle. North window light, supplemented by a couple grow lights. Fred the Ficus is happy for the company, barely lost a leaf this winter. #plantsinwinter #ficusbenjamina #plantsmakemehappy #happyplanthappylife #junglevibes This is Fred #ficusbenjamina junior, growing in #LECA since last summer. Really seems to like the medium. I don't give him hydro nutes, just a schultz+marphyl mix in tap water, which i add to rainwater. ♥️
