Maybe I’m stretching this challenge, but my first thought was more what “Mother” can mean. In this photo, taken this last August, I learned that Male Cardinals feed their young. I never once saw the female; it was always him with the 2 fledglings.
Tim actually built this deck feeder for me. I love the little lip he put to block the wind that comes from the lake. As you can see birds love to perch on it. I love how the little guy has his one wee leg up on the perch, to help Daddy get it into his gullet.
Tim also nailed a nice size piece of a branch to the side that faces in towards the deck. I just set interesting rocks along the twig ledge to give it a more earthy feel.
Why not – sea horse males look after their young :) nice take on the challenge
