A Curve In The Path Ahead

So I’m riding this evening
along the path that runs by the river
up towards the University.

curves ahead

Up, and down,
and meandering along,
swaying this way and that.

RoseI’ve ridden her to work every day.

Because never again.
I will not take for granted one more day.
Not one.

Riding along,
before the dawn.
Taking my time,
as I listen as all around me,
on every darken street,
my tires roll along through this village,
on my way to work.
And a chorus of Cardinals,
like angels
as they call forth the dawn.

And it is breathtaking.
