Confessions Of A Caregiver
When I first met Tim his life was about drugs, music, late nights and alcohol – and it was that life that ultimately killed him. I’d always been attracted to the music scene, and still love the energy of live music. Thus it was that I became entangled in the life he led. Yet, in time I realized that Tim’s life was not out front, but rather out … Continue reading Confessions Of A Caregiver
My Life In A Call Centre
To date, much of what I’ve written concerning the Call Centre world has been somewhat derogatory. To be sure, there are many aspects of the environment that…well…to put it bluntly…suck. That said, there are aspects that do not. Lets start with the fact that out of the hundreds of applications and resumes I sent out last summer, they are the only people who ONE, called … Continue reading My Life In A Call Centre
Totems, Labyrinths & Time
“Show not what has been done, but what can be. How beautiful the world would be if there were a procedure for moving through labyrinths.” ― Umberto Eco, The Name of the Rose Every morning, without knowing its name, I have awoke to his song. The lovely call of the male Cardinal has been my reminder of good things to come – my mind was … Continue reading Totems, Labyrinths & Time
My Life On The Hamster Wheel
Today I find out my fate – at 1:04pm I find out what shift I’m going to be working for the foreseeable future. Let me say, the anxiety is horrid. My stomach is in knots, I had a horrible sleep last night, and I’m fighting a sinus infection to boot. Of course, to make it as inconvenient as possible, they scheduled it for the exact … Continue reading My Life On The Hamster Wheel
Worn Velvet and Butterfly Farts
You ever get that feeling that you’re insignificant? Some days I’m the master of my domain, and god help anyone who gets in my way. Other days? Well, other days, not so much. Amidst the normalcy that encompassed my upbringing, I managed to gain a certain sense of self-importance. Go figure. It’s all about this silly notion that my needs and desires are worthy of … Continue reading Worn Velvet and Butterfly Farts
The Sky is Blue, And So Am I
Here we are, past the point of enamoration with this blasted winter. Snow, snow, and more snow, tis the theme this frosty February. As I wrote a couple of days ago, February has become the month of beginnings for me, therefore I am TRYING to see it that way – trying to focus my energy towards that positivity {unsuccessfully today apparently}. Lately life seems reduced … Continue reading The Sky is Blue, And So Am I
From Canada, with Love
For the last couple days the National media in North America has displayed image after image of how unprepared Russia is for these Olympic Games. I’m sure there are many pockets that have been lined with Rubles, and those rich cats don’t give a care to how their shoddy workmanship and selfishness looks to the rest of the world. They probably have never considered how … Continue reading From Canada, with Love

The Bum and I
We are back in the winter of 2000, and as I was leaving work, this old, stinky man latched onto my arm, saying “I think I’m having a heart attack“. And I go REALLY, well sir, you’ve attached yourself to the wrong lass. I’m sorry, yeah right. He was halfway to China and back drunk and more than likely having a panic attack. Whatever it … Continue reading The Bum and I
To #4 @4:44
To The Cold-Hearted driver of the #4 @ 4:44pm, Monday January 27th, 2014, who refused to pick me up: I had just worked 8 hours and walked the 4 or so blocks from Second Street to catch the Oxford East at Fanshawe College. You can’t imagine how delighted I was to see you sitting there. You see, I normally work much later and was worn … Continue reading To #4 @4:44
Dollarama Design & The Dog
So I’ve discovered the downtown Dollarama…and I’m hooked. Last weekend I bought 8 of these Bamboo Floor Mats – which do a fantastic job of covering up the wine stain. They also give the room almost this old circus or gypsy tent feel. They ground the room a bit I believe. Also purchased were some tea towels. Oh, I know, just WAY too exciting. Insignificant décor becomes significant … Continue reading Dollarama Design & The Dog
Spirit and the Dance
My personal worldview, I suppose like us all, has been defined by my ancestors, as well as by my own personal encounters. Taken in, inhaled, viewed, then woven out of need into the spirit of our beliefs. I’m not an organized religion sort… and I mean that in ANY format. Strict adherence to ritual and scripture is not my cup-o’tea. I prefer a wandering nomadic … Continue reading Spirit and the Dance
Of Two Sisters
My sister and I are as different as night to day. She is 5 years younger than me, and the story goes that apparently Mom after sex had to stand on her head in order to get pregnant. I came too quickly, and Lex they had to perform a circus act to prompt out. And today nothing has changed. She still resides in the small … Continue reading Of Two Sisters
